The Femme Fatale: Babe On Babes Part II
Big Poppa Pump's busty "Midajah" is the best valet in wrestling - here's why!

When it comes to filling the role of a ringside valet in wrestling these days, the job requirements seem to be limited to big breasts and very little clothes. In fact, the less you have on, the more likely you are to find yourself on the arm of a World Champion.
Now if you think this is going to be an editorial bashing the half-naked women of wrestling, you're way off base. Believe it or not, I am a proud and all natural woman who just so happens to have the ability to appreciate the beauty of a "tight ass and a nice rack." That doesn't necessarily mean that, if given the chance, I'd dive head-first into the pages of Penthouse myself, like former ECW valet Beulah, or even pose for a tasteful Playboy spread, such as Chyna. I can accept that in the pro wrestling business, sexual images help sell the product.
So what sells wrestling better than a sexy babe, donned in a tight, black dress standing at ringside?
A babe who looks like she belongs out there.
From the first glance, pro wrestling appears to have two kinds of women in it. First we have the pretty and perversely busty women who sensuously saunter down the aisle and act as if their performance ends once the theme music dies. The women who's talent ends at looking good; the ones who have no idea how to be an actual manageress as opposed to just eye candy.
You know, like Miss Elizabeth who managed "Macho Man" Randy Savage in the 80's.
Then you have women like Chyna and Lita in the WWF, who are taking their act into the ring, competing against other females such as Ivory and Tori. Chyna, a former WWF Intercontinental Champion, has even taken her job one step further. She wrestles men on a regular basis.
Having been a wrestling fan for many years, I've seen my share of ringside eye candy. From wrestling veteran Terri Runnels in the WWF, fitness model Torrie Wilson in WCW, former porn vixen Jasmine St Claire in ECW, and even Cherry Bomb in APW, all of them seem to fit into one of those two categories. But recently, there is one woman that has caught my attention; one that who represents a third category. A new category of women who can kill with both their looks… and their talents.
Midajah.
Sharing my hometown of Seattle Washington, Midajah was born Melinda Midajah to a Spanish mother and Norwegian father. Now this 5'3 fitness model, bodybuilder, and freak has found herself on the arm of arguably the largest man in the business, Scott "Big Poppa Pump" Steiner.
With real-life husband, Michael O'Hearn of Battledome fame, Midajah still competes in bodybuilding competitions and poses for fitness and muscle magazine covers, showing the world all the hard work she has put into her exquisitely sculpted physique. But her seductive curves and angelic smile are not the only reason that Midajah may just be the top female valet in professional wrestling.
With a self-proclaimed "Genetic Freak" like former multi-time U.S. and world tag team champion Scott Steiner by her side, the first couple of WCW look like a warped Disney production of Beauty and the Beast. Where most women might shy away from the physically dominating bad boy, the "Big Bad Booty Daddy," Midajah doesn't seem to mind Scott's mean streak. In fact, walking down to the ring with her man "Big Poppa Pump," Midajah has a look of both love and loyalty. Steiner may refer to her has his own personal "freak," but his protectiveness of her makes this one of the most solid and genuine pairings on the current wrestling scene.
I didn't think much of this womanly "freak" when she first appeared in WCW in December last year. At that time, Steiner was accompanied to the ring by three of his freaky chicks. However, when the ladies were asked to take a more active role in their jobs, two said "no" and left the company, leaving Midajah the lone valet. Even after she began interfering in matches, executing a petite-style dive on to Big Poppa's opponents from the top turnbuckle, I saw her as just another flavor of the week. Little did I know Midajah had far more to offer the wrestling world than what appeared on the surface.
In the tradition of women such as "Scary" Sherri Martel and "Woman," Midajah commands attention when she appears on screen. As a witness to the carnage inside the square circle, Midajah sees her "Poppy," as she calls him, get the crap kick out of him by a host of muscle-bound foes week after week. Most women I've seen at ringside, former WWF manageress-turn-Playboy centerfold Sable being a prime example, stand in the corner and give little reaction to the action in the ring. Often there is no reaction at all to the violence supposedly committed before them; and these women are supposed to be the love interest of the men being beaten up? Is that realistic?
Midajah, on the other hand, reacts to every bump, every slap, and every pain that Scott Steiner experiences. She responds to each blow as if it were inflicted on her. Outside the matches, when the couple are providing an interview, or Scott is insanely tearing up his dressing room with his trademark lead pipe, she soothes his temper with her sweet smile and adoring gaze that tell a story all their own. Unlike most tandems in wrestling, Steiner and Midajah are real.
Maybe I'm the only one who has noticed, but Midajah, like her male counterpart, also has a mean streak of her own. Although her offence has been limited to a few takedowns and some vicious kicks from her six-inch heeled boots, her facial expression add fuel the her blazing attack. She doesn't appear afraid or silly, or even overtly cocky or desperately dramatic about her performance. She simply launches her strike and doesn't concern herself with breaking a nail.
It's easy to be taken in by her heavenly form, yet there is so much more behind her eyes, her body language. Midajah is the total package, the ultimate valet. She excels where so many females in this business have failed. Midajah has the body that sells sexuality, and with her intense on-screen loyalty to Scotty Steiner, she sells herself as a legitimate participant in the game. She is a player. She is more than "eye candy."
The next time your watching Nitro or Thunder, keep your eye on Midajah. What you'll see isn't just another pretty face between a pair of million-dollar airbags; instead, you will truly see the total package. The greatest example of what a woman in the wrestling industry can be. To view the article on the wrestling.ign.com website click here
